How long does a Salesforce integration take?

The decisions and milestones that shape a Salesforce–Xero, MYOB or Cin7 integration timeline.

The useful question is not just “How many weeks?” It is “What needs to be ready before each stage can finish?” Adaptal recommends building the schedule around decisions, sample data and acceptance tests rather than promising a universal delivery time.

1. Agree on scope and ownership

List the organisations, record types and directions of sync. Decide which system owns each important field and what event should trigger a change. Customers-only scope differs from a connection that also handles invoices, jobs or order fulfilment.

2. Resolve existing data

Decide how to match customers, handle duplicates and treat records that exist in only one system. Test with representative data before an initial import. Salesforce’s migration guidance recommends sample imports and validation of records and relationships.

3. Build and test the workflows

Test the ordinary path and the exceptions: missing required data, an unavailable service, duplicate requests and changes made in both systems. Define who can retry a failed sync and where your team sees the outcome.

4. Confirm business acceptance

Ask the people who use the records to validate the outcome. Reserve their time in the plan. Access approval, delayed field decisions and unavailable testers can hold up a project even when development is ready.

5. Launch and monitor

Agree the cutover approach, support contact, monitoring and fallback plan. Confirm what happens to edits made during the transition.

Questions to ask before accepting a timeline

  • Which dependencies must we provide, and by when?
  • Does the estimate include existing-data reconciliation?
  • Who signs off the test cases?
  • What happens if scope changes?
  • What support is included after launch?
Can we start with one workflow?

Yes, a limited first phase can be a useful option. Confirm its dependencies so it still works as a complete business process.

Will the showcase connect my systems?

No. It uses fictional data to explain choices and outcomes. A production connection requires a separately agreed setup.
